I used to know the family who lived there. Many nice memories. It's a great old house, probably not preferred by the type of folks who could afford it now! The yard used to go right thru the block to 34th NE, but half the yard got cut off to build a big new house a few years ago. The house just south of it on 34th NE used to be the barn for this house when it was a farm long ago.

I have investigated historic preservation and have found that the house at 7321 probably doesn't meet the criteria: design, historic significance such as association with an event or a person (such as a Seattle pioneer.) Unfortunately, just being old (perhaps the oldest house in Wedgwood) doesn't qualify the house as "historic." If anyone wants to buy the house and have it moved, they could contact the developer; the developer plans to tear the house down.

I thought it would be cool to turn this property over the city and turn it into a 'community meeting house'. That way different neighborhood groups could rent it out for meetings and possibly even smaller recitals.

I much rather see homes moved instead of torn down. It saddens me to see some of the great old homes in my neighborhood of West Seattle demolished.
